The Naval Museum, located on the Prado Promenade in Madrid, was inaugurated in 1843, and holds a permanent collection that takes you on a journey through the Naval History of Spain from the Middle Ages to the 21st century, and has just reopened after the latest refurbishment.
The guided tour that we offer lasts one and a half hour and covers the basic characteristics and historical milestones of Spain’s Naval History, highlighting the Discovery and Expedition Period that took place during the Modern Age and the general evolution of the Spanish Navy over eight centuries of history.
The many rooms of the museum’s exhibition display the different types of naval construction, scientific advances in navigation, cartography, astronomy, weapons and items belonging to life on board a ship.
The Naval Museum is an outstanding example of the contribution the Spanish Navy has provided to the cultural and scientific progress of Spain and the Western World.
